The adidas Foundation is supervised by the Board of Directors of the adidas Stiftung, which is composed of a majority of independent experts. The adidas Stiftung is also an independent non-profit entity  and is the sole shareholder of the adidas Foundation, meaning that it fulfils the very important role of making sure our organization is always heading in the right direction and following the rules while carrying out our mission.

The adidas Foundation is responsible for carrying out its operational work independently, however, the adidas Stiftung Board of Directors plays a very important governance and supervisory role. Although adidas AG is the founding company of the adidas Stiftung and the adidas Foundation and we continue to foster a strong relationship with them, both entities remain legally independent and are not owned or governed by adidas AG.

In addition to its supervisory role, the adidas Stiftung receives its own funding from adidas AG each year to support projects in Germany. The staff and operational capacity to carry out administrative work and manage partnerships lie with the  adidas Foundation, which is instructed to carry out these tasks on behalf of the adidas Stiftung.
