Our Activities
In recent years, global challenges such as climate change, inequality, and health crises have become increasingly pressing. We have been established with the intention to address these challenges by providing support to organizations in the form of funding and capacity building, as well as directly carrying out advocacy, research, and community engagement initiatives focused on these issues.
From the very beginning, a core part of our identity at the adidas Foundation is that we aspire to be more than just a grant-making organization which receives funds, distributes them to others, and collects reports in return.
Instead, we seek to realize our mission and vision by strengthening the role and reputation of sport as a catalyst for development and social change. We seek to achieve this by promoting transparency and collaboration, sharing experiences and insights, advocating globally, and forming partnerships. The goal is to foster broader recognition and support for sport's positive impact, engage decision-makers, and present evidence of sport's effectiveness as a development tool.
To create impactful solutions, we partner with mission-aligned non-profit organizations and social entrepreneurs. We demonstrate, in cooperation with the organizations we are partnering with, the impact of our work and support on communities around the world, using data, imagery, and stories.
We work towards combining forces with other organizations from the sport for good sector and research partners with the goal of entering into discussions with decision-makers to push for more public engagement to use the power of sport. We are eager to strengthen the evidence base of what sport can do to improve lives by openly sharing our data and insights across the sport for good sector. This is why we actively participate in sport for good forums to present the impact of our work and that of our partners, while advocating for more engagement and joint initiatives in the sector, such as new partnerships and co-funded projects. At the same time, we seek to drive excellence through data-driven decisions and contributions to the knowledge base within our sector.
To be impactful, our work is grounded on solid evidence and insights from the communities we aim to serve. Our goal is to foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning across our organization and partnerships.
We will achieve this by:
Partnership Development
Partnership Development
We provide strategic funding, support, and capacity building for social impact partners and bring together diverse stakeholders to share resources and ideas. Activities such as community engagement sessions, tailored trainings, workshops, coaching, curation of resources and platforms, and knowledge products are just some of the activities that we undertake together with our partners.
Evaluation and research
Evaluation and research
We learn by collecting data, evaluating our impact, sharing results, and supporting research to show how sport can solve social and environmental issues.
Advocacy
Advocacy
We advocate for the power of sport to positively impact individuals and society, and for systemic changes that reduce barriers, ensuring marginalized communities can sustainably access and benefit from sport. By joining forces with other sport for development actors, we aim to recognize and promote sport as a crucial tool for social change.
Engaging communities
Engaging communities
Communities, whether based on place, interest, culture, or practice, have a unique understanding of their own needs and challenges – we create opportunities and safe spaces for them to unite for collective action to find solutions that work best for them.
Our Partner Selection Process
We select partners for our program portfolio in two ways:
1. Open Request for Proposal (RFP) Process: We publicly share funding guidelines and selection criteria, inviting all eligible organizations to apply. Please note: Currently, we do not have any open requests for proposals or funding opportunities. When opportunities become available, we will announce them on our website.
2. Direct Invitation: Our team proactively researches organizations, projects, and programs that align with our portfolio strategy. When we identify a potential fit, we reach out directly to invite selected organizations to explore partnering with us.
All organizations must undergo a due diligence process, including general compliance checks, before entering into a formal partnership.
At this time, we are unable to accept unsolicited proposals. We appreciate the interest in our work and encourage organizations to monitor our website for future opportunities.
