If everyone were to meet the WHO recommended level of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week, this could prevent more than 10,000 premature deaths per year (people aged 30 to 70 years) and increase life expectancy of people who are insufficiently active. Source: OECD
Regular physical activity is one of the most important things people can do to improve their physical and mental health and well-being. It helps prevent a range of non-communicable diseases and improves mental health and cognitive functioning, among other benefits. Source: OECD
Our mission is to unite communities through sport, driving social change for people and the planet.
We are convinced that sport can contribute to making the world a better place. For our work, we understand sport as a generic term, comprising sport for all, physical activity, play, recreation, dance, organized, casual, competitive, and traditional and indigenous sports and games in their diverse forms.
It is proven that sport can have the unique ability to overcome boundaries, connect individuals, and foster understanding between diverse communities. Sport creates a powerful platform for combating hate and discrimination, promoting respect, unity, and equality.
This is why we want to ensure that as many people as possible around the world have the opportunity to benefit from the transformative power of sport. This is our contribution to solving some of the most pressing social and environmental issues facing the world today.
