Play Collective is a joint initiative by the adidas Foundation, Common Goal and Beyond Sport
Play Collective is the name that captures purpose and the structure of this initiative. Play reflects our belief that physical activity is not a privilege but a right. Every young person deserves safe spaces for movement, equitable access to programs, and sustained investment in their ability to be active. Coll3ctive anchors the project in collaboration, connecting organizations supporting young people through the initiative. The 3 signals what makes it distinct: it connects work across three countries, spans three years of sustained support, and brings together three strategic partners, the adidas Foundation, Common Goal, and Beyond Sport, each contributing complementary strengths.
Play Collective supports organizations that create inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities for underserved young people who face barriers to access and participation, including:
01
Youth with disabilities
02
Girls and young women
03
LGBTQIA+ youth
04
Young People experiencing racial and/or ethnic discrimination
*We recognize that the identities, experiences, and specific needs of young people within each of these categories vary widely across countries, cultures, and local contexts. Belonging is shaped by self‑identification, local terminology, legal and policy environments, and social norms. Many young people may belong to multiple communities at once, experiencing overlapping forms of marginalization or discrimination. For this reason, the groups should be understood as guiding frameworks rather than rigid categories, designed to support inclusive, context‑sensitive programming and equitable access to sport and physical activity.
